  Membership in the Utah Academic Library Consortium

The Utah Academic Library Consortium (UALC) was established in 1971 and consists of all public and private academic libraries in accredited institutions of higher education in the State of Utah. The purpose of UALC is to cooperate in continually improving the availability and delivery of library and information services to the higher education community, to the State of Utah, and to partner libraries in Nevada.

Criteria for membership is outlined in the constitution of the consortium:

  • A library of an institution of higher learning within the State of Utah
  • Accreditation through the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities;
  • Demonstrated commitment to provision of information resources and services appropriate to the mission of the institution
  • Ability to participate in reciprocal lending and borrowing of collection materials among consortium member libraries
  • Provision of onsite access to faculty, staff, and students of other consortium institutions
  • Attendance by the director at regular meetings of the Council
  • Participation in committees and consortium projects
  • Payment of an annual membership fee
  • Approval of membership by Council

A limited membership status is available to libraries in institutions of higher learning outside the state of Utah. Libraries must meet the criteria that apply for full membership and are required to participate in reciprocal lending and borrowing and onsite access agreements.

Eligible libraries who wish to pursue membership may contact the consortium via its website www.ualc.net
