Purpose:
To widely promote and publicize events, activities, policies and news of Utah Academic Libraries Consortium to library users, legislative decision-makers – both locally and state wide – and to members of the Utah community who fund the libraries with their tax dollars and directly benefit from their resources and products of library research results.
Charge:
The Committee is charged to:
- publicize UALC academic and community contributions
- promote use of member library collections and services
- assist in developing legislative proposals and grant applications
- publicize UALC sponsored events
Objectives:
To publicize news and events mandated by UALC. The points below show some possible goals of UALC, such as how libraries are more effective research tools than popular search engines, how we can help community citizens become more educated about political elections and academic libraries' stance on public access to information, to name a few.

Forms of Communication:
The committee will communicate and market using all forms of media outlets to report UALC objectives, activities and results. The forms of communication include…
- UALC's web site – showing all UALC has to offer; marketing the site effectively
- News releases – newspapers, television, web sites, etc.
- Public awareness campaigns – using various communications forms
- White papers – and other literature, including brochures, mailers, etc.
- Education campaigns – demonstrating how tax dollars are being used and with what benefits
- Web awareness campaigns – teaching Utahns how to access academic libraries from home
Results:
To heighten awareness of what Utah 's academic libraries are doing for Utah citizens, and why tax dollars and other appropriations are important to educate Utah 's children, students of all ages and adults
Membership and terms of service:
Members are appointed to three year renewable terms by the Council. At least one member should be a member of the Director's Council and will act as liaison to the Council. While there is no set number of members, generally three to five representatives are appointed from different areas of the state and different size libraries. The UALC Webmaster is a standing member of the PRWG.
Accountability:
The Committee eceives direction from the UALC Council but also accepts assignments from committees. A Group Chair is appointed annually by the Council and is responsible to attend Council meetings and report on Group projects. The Chair submits an annual report to the Council in August of each year.
Meeting Schedule:
The Group has no regular meeting schedule and conducts much of its business through conference calls and email.
